Hammarlund HQ-120X General Coverage AM Shortwave Receiver (no SSB) 12 tubes, approximately 47 pounds. External 8 ohm speaker required but not provided. One tube has been replaced with an adapter and a miniature tube.
Produced from 1938-1944, this beautiful general coverage AM HF radio has been re-capped by the previous owner and fitted with a 3 prong power cord and a BNC antenna input jack. This receiver was brought up on a variac and found to be in operating condition and has good sensitivity and selectivity. The crystal filter does work however the BFO control does not. Controls and bandswitch will require cleaning as they are noisy/intermittent. Faceplate is in good condition, no deep scratches and lettering is good and legible. S meter functions, as does the backlighting for the band, bandspread, and S meter. The rest of the case is dusty, as is in the inside top of the unit. Bottom plate has been marked by the previous owner to help identify alignment access points.
Alignment of receiver seems decent due to the good sensitivity and selectivity, however dial indicator alignment should be performed as some of the bands are quite far off. AVC and manual gain settings appear to work, but again the BFO does not.
Although the previous owner did spend time to rehab this unit into working condition, it is approximately 80 years old. No warranty is expressed or implied Please consider this when making your purchase.
